OVERSIZED LOADS

Whenever an oversized load is expected to travel through the City, the City of Clayton requires a copy of the trucking firm’s Caltrans Permit, a copy of their certificate of insurance reflecting their automobile coverage, the direction and route of travel through town, and the day(s) and time(s) of travel.

The City requires the aforementioned information for all oversized loads.  The City does not charge for oversized load permits and therefore does not issue a permit.

Please submit the required information via fax to the City of Clayton Police Department at 925‑672‑1429 at least 48 hours prior to the expected date and time of travel.  Please include the following contact information on your fax cover sheet: Company name/address/phone number and Contact Person’s name, email address and cell phone number or direct line.

NOTE: Oversized loads are prohibited from traveling through the City of Clayton in a north/westbound direction between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and 9:00 A.M. and in a south/eastbound direction between the hours of 3:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M.
